π§ Coaching with Young People
I have spent many years supporting young people one-to-one β helping them navigate anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, and excessive introspection. Often, just having a calm, compassionate adult who listens can make all the difference.
I also help young people identify their strengths, interests, and values, and explore what kind of careers or future paths might feel meaningful to them. This can be especially grounding when life feels overwhelming.
Β
πΏ Trauma-Informed and Body-Based
Some of the young people Iβve worked with have experienced trauma β recent or historical. I take a trauma-informed, somatic approach, using tools like:
β
**TRE (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises)**
β
**Deep rest techniques**
β
**Breath and grounding practices**
These methods help them safely reconnect to their bodies, regulate their nervous systems, and find a sense of calm again.
π‘ βThe body keeps the score β and it can also be part of the healing.β
Β
π£οΈ Creating Safe Spaces for Conversation
In group settings or workshops, I focus on building trust first β creating a space where young people feel safe, heard, and not judged.
This encourages them to open up, listen to others, and reflect more deeply β key ingredients for healthy emotional development.
I support open dialogue around big questions and real-world challenges, using respectful facilitation and gentle challenge when needed.

π€ Peer Support Projects
Iβve delivered peer mentor training in secondary schools and colleges β enabling young people to support one another in areas such as:
π§ͺ Substance misuse & harm reduction
π¬ Mental health awareness
π‘οΈ Resilience and self-regulation skills
These projects often had ripple effects: mentors gained confidence and went on to work in youth support roles, while mentees benefited from the approachability and authenticity of peer conversations.
Β
π‘οΈ Safeguarding & Working with Professionals
Β
As a former Safeguarding Trainer for a London Borough, Iβve worked directly with social workers and other agencies to assess risk, support families, and deliver effective interventions.
I now help schools, charities and coaching teamsΒ demystify safeguarding β especially when working with vulnerable young people β and understand thresholds for action in a real-world context.
Β
π§ββοΈ Somatic Support for Regulation & Growth*(H2)*
I draw on 30+ years of yoga and mindfulness practice in my work. The nervous system is at the heart of emotional wellbeing β and when young people learn to tune into their bodies, they gain powerful tools for:
π Self-regulation
π― Focus and attention
β€οΈ Emotional balance
π± Growth and confidence
This isΒ ‘whole-person coaching’ β supporting body, mind, and social development.
